This is probably the first review I've ever written, but it just needs to be done. I have been struggling with clogged pores and whiteheads for a while. I was reaching the point of desperation. I wouldn't wear make up because tine bumps would mess all the texture of my skin. Overall, I was sad and frustrated. I have never had such bad breakout or clogged pores. I have tried everything, and other salicylic acid serums so I had no high expectations on this. However, IT IS A BLESSING. I'm so thankful to the ordinary for this product. I saw improvements since the first day I applied it. FIRST DAY. INSANE. Im so so so so happy right now. My skin will get back to normal and I already feel so confident. Please if you have clogged pores, whiteheads, bumps on your skin try this!! I'm only using it at night and a tiny amount does the trick. Im waiting now for my glycol acid excitedly. I LOVE YOU THE ORDINARY

Amazing! I had very deep cystic acne that would just never come to the surface but would become pigmented and scarred and this helped not only bring them to the surface but also heal quickly! It also cleared up a lot of blackheads and congestion. It did, however, make my skin dry and flaky so I was wondering if I could put grape seed oil or hyaluronic acid 2% on top (especially as part of the night time routine) to counteract the dryness?

Used this on my whole face for a week to improve texture, sebaceous filaments and large pores on my t-zone and it has drastically improved all of the above. Now I use to spot treat alongside niacinimide 10% and zinc 1% and they two work great together.

It took me a while to get used to the texture and the application of these serums as it is not something I was used too, But I am sure glad I stuck with it. The Salicylic Acid(when used in combination with Niacinamide) has been working well for my skin. I've had the best results with a topical product EVER. So glad I found this product!!! My review: better than any other Salicylic Acid I've tried. Application and formula seems to be more effective than usual washes and when used in combination with other products results are awesome!!

Absolute save for sudden pimples or the really inflamed and headless ones! Fastest in drying out pimples and helps with spots

I absolutely love the ordinary as a brand and recommend it to all my friends. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the salicylic acid acid changed my life - no other product has helped me so much. That's why it's even more disappointing that it has been out of stock for SUCH a long time (over a year now I think?). Really resistant to incorporate a product in to your routine if you can't rely on it. Even an indication of when you think it might be back in stock would help at this point!

I, like everyone else, LOVE this formula and am patiently awaiting a restock. This was one of several products (including a Kiehl’s deep moisture balm that has been discontinued) that finally gave me steadily clear and even toned skin and I am on my last precious drops of salicylic acid! I can’t lose this, too!

Love this product, but it kinda foams on you face when your spreading it over? That part is kinda weird. It makes me feel like I'm leaving surfactants on my skin

An effective but difficult product to use. This Salicylic Acid is STRONG, even for my tough, oily skin that's used to acids, retinoids, etc. Heed the warning: Do NOT use on compromised skin! If you've poked, prodded, picked, or manipulated the zit in ANY way, put this stuff DOWN! You'll end up with a blister-y patch or inflamed scabs where the zit (once) was! Yes, the blemish WILL recede, but the aftermath can be scary! Then again, even on untouched pimples, it's a crapshoot. Most DO go away--fast and without drama--but once in a while, there will be a pimple or two that, for whatever reason, becomes a red, peel-y patch, like a mild burn. So I'm torn: this product definitely works but it's volatile, like using a blowtorch on a spider. Aim carefully and focus tightly on the target so you don't destroy the surrounding area! And one blast is usually enough to stop the zit in its tracks.

This does not help me with clogged pores. Very sticky and leaves a shiny film. Hard to layer with other products. However, I could use this with ALA from the ordinary to create a stronger peels. It works well with ALA to get exfoliate dry patches of dead skin. I don’t recommend this if you cannot tolerate the burning sensation because you will feel it burns for couple or minutes.

This is a "see ya later scrubs and peeling masks" product for me. I just don't understand why it foams on my skin and it usually takes some time to absorb completely. DECIEM Response: Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and Salicylic Acid 2% Solution can have a foaming effect upon application depending on the other products you are using in your regimen. The foaming should not last longer than a few seconds and both should not remain sticky once absorbed into the skin. We suggest allowing a few seconds in between each application for the product to fully absorb into the skin. You may wish to use a "patting" application method, as opposed to "rubbing.”

I initially thought I had found my holy grail - I’ve recently suffered from hormonal acne, went on skinoren, while coming off of that and my skin started to relax again, this serum seemed to be the perfect solution, looked like my skin in my 20ies with hardly any blemishes or visible pores. BUT suddenly a few weeks ago, I woke up and my whole face was low key sore, around my eyes were flaky - I couldn’t place where it came from, I haven’t ea tree n anything different nor touched anything out of the ordinary. Then, three weeks ago, I got a red flaky patch on my eyelid, it went away a little, came back and now it’s starting under my eye also - I haven’t for the life of me been able to figure out what was causing it, not something I have had before. But for some reason I ended up in the review section here, and see that what SO many others have reported, is the EXACT same that’s happpening to me. And I will note, I have NOT put the product around my eyes, simply a little on my forhead, on my nose and chin. Will dis-continue use and switch to Paula’s choice. I Hope you reformulate this serum or give better instructions of how to avoid this quite extreme reaction, because I want to come back! But with this risk, it’s simply not worth it.

I bought this product a few months ago, was skeptical after seeing the views but I opened and tried it in the last 2 weeks, and it was so worth it. My skin when I first started using it purged and went slightly red but I just had this gut feeling not to stop using it and it was right. My skin is EXTREMELY sensitive and I also have seborrheic atitis and it's GONE just after the 2 weeks. My pimples are currently purging but they are definitely calming down. Salicylic Acid IS strong but your skin can adjust to it like mine did and I'm happier with my skin then ever before. In the case of this product the grass is indeed greener on the other side.

I'm writing this review from memories of the seemingly never-to-return salicylic acid that gave me the best skin of my life. I've been out for a while, like many of us, but when it was available it was glorious. My skin was blemish free and so smooth. As a person who struggled with acne it was amazing getting compliments from strangers on my beautiful complexion. My skin is okay now, but it's definitely missing this gem. If it's ever restocked I'll try the new formulation, though for the life of me I cannot fathom why they'd pull this widely beloved product without already having its replacement available in a reasonable timeframe. Giving an approximate date for its return would be great!

This was my holy grail product. It cleared up my acne in days without any spots on my face. I have yet to find anything that compares to this. My skin hasn't been the same without this. If only I knew they were going to remove it from their product list for this long I would have stocked up. It's been over a year to almost 2 years and this has still not returned. Seeing many positive reviews, hopefully, the ordinary will bring it back soon. please!

This product is amazing. I (used to) get small pimples and congestion on my chest, and sometimes on the back and sides of my neck, near my hairline. I used 2 drops on my chest and 1 drop for back & sides of my neck, before going to bed, followed by a little of The Ordinary moisturizer and the areas cleared overnight. I can now wear low neck tops without a worry. This product is the fastest working product that I have ever tried.

It does feel really oily I’ve been using it the past week to put on to sleep in. It gets rid of a good amount of redness I wouldn’t say it gets rid of acne.

1 High amount of Saccharide Isomerate, which is a water absorber , support the moisture of the skin during the exfoliation. At the meantime, it brings the sticky feeling with Hydroxyethylcellulose. The actual texture is somehow like B5+HA. But the feeling is just temporary. Oh, i forget, it can easily ball up...So don't rub it hard. 2 Cocamidopropyl dimethylamine, as the solvent for Salicylic Acid, is quite gentle, and helps the ingredient penetration. Additionally, maybe because of this and polysorbate 20, if you rub the serum with a wet hand, it will form a white ‘emulsification’ like bubble. But it is okay to me and much better than pure alcohol as solvent. Polymeric substances may slow the release of salicylic acid. Overall, it's a gentle, simple exfoliator. Won't dry out the skin. I like to apply it on a spot, it will form a light form, so may not be very comfortable for overall face application

Since using this product for over a month I've noticed my blackheads are literally disappearing! Which is crazy because I've had a ton of big blackheads all over my nose for probably ten years and they're all now reduced in size if not gone. If you can just stick with this product for the best results! I use with the HA and I've never had any dry skin problems.

So far so good, I have only been using the product for two days and only at night (I use the Niacinamide 10%-Zinc 1% in the mornings). However, my breakouts have reduced significantly so I am hoping if I keep using this product, my breakouts will stop or be significantly minimized.

Didn’t really do much for my blackheads, but definitely helps with pimples. Dries them out overnight and are completely gone after 2/3 days.

I love the salicylic acid and this one is really good for me.....I use it every night and day and my skin is almost perfect since I started using this product...I love it but It would be perfect the 100ml size...

Initially my skin seemed to get slightly worse but after three weeks of continued use its really starting to clear up. I have had no outbreaks in the last few days. So about a year ago I got off hormonal contraception and all hell broke loose on my face. My acne was far worse than it had ever been before, my oilyness was completely out of control. After some trial and error I thought I'd give The Ordinary a try and my skin is now back to normal (well, actually even better than it was before).The Salicic Acid was one of the MVPs of that journey. I have been using it for 8 months, once per day, all over my face, 1-2 drops per application (attention, you don't really need more), right after I wash my face and before any other serums or creams. I did get about three weeks of purging but after that my skin has been continually improving. My blackheads have significantly decreased in size and in number, I now get about one cyst every two months or so around the time of my period while before I had between 3 and 10 very angry and painful ones at any given point, I continue to get 1-3 smaller zits around that time of the month (which again is much less than it was before). The other thing that I noticed is that even when I do get a zit, the time it takes to heal is much shorter and it hardly leaves any redness or hyerpigmentation behind.Another way I have been using the Salicilic Acid is in conjunction with a clay mask. Once a week I apply a bit more than normal (maybe 2-3 drops), I wait for about 10 minutes and then I apply a clay mask. This helps the clay mask to perform a lot better. I almost look poreless after that. I'm really glad that TO decided to combine the two in one product with the new mask, I'm certainly going to include it in my next order.Finally, my partner has also been using it in the exact same way that I do. He has oily, dehydrated and acne prone skin. It has helped him a lot, mostly with his blackheads, and he generally likes it but his skin reacts even better to AHAs, like the Glycolic Acid 7% toning solution.
