The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% 30ml

First time ever using a Vitamin C product. Having read the reviews I was worried about the grainy texture but it sinks right in! Definitely avoid applying to broken skin because it stings Since I can't combine it with any other products in my routine, I was wondering whether the suspension will have the same benefits if used as a mask? And how long after rinsing it should I apply other stuff? Thanks :D

I have a sensitive skin as I've had hormonal acne for years so I am very careful what I put on my face. The ordinary range has worked quite well for me and I use several of their products. Despite the fact that I have sensitive skin I have been able to use this product but interchangeably with Azelaic acid once a week/every 3-4 days. I think you need to find the right balance and also I don't use it on every area of my face as some areas are too sensitive but I can see it makes a difference.

It may be to soon to tell but I haven't noticed an improvement yet. It's a bit gritty at first but after topping off with some moisturizer, it's better. Although my dog won't lick my face when I use this! lol

After 8 months of consistent usage, I can really tell how my skin has changed. This was my first serious foray into skin care. I used vitamin c at my height 4x a week. Now I use it around 1-2x a week. I will be stopping my usage of this though because over time it does give you more noticeable blackheads. However, the effects on my skin and skin brightness have been amazing so I wouldn’t rule out going back to it, just a heads up that it’s blackheads will become more noticeable over time because of the formula and how vitamin c reacts to being oxidized.

I’ve been using for almost a year now, I’m the PM alternating with the Ordinary’s retinol. It has made a huge difference to my skin and the price is great, such good value is hard to beat. It is very strong and takes getting used to in the beginning, they mention not to get in eye area, and I can attest to that lol I bought a vit E lotion to complement the vit C, and sometimes when the vit C got too stingy for me I would apply the vit E lotion shortly after and the stinging will subside. Took my skin a few months of regular use to get used to it, now the tingling is very brief. I’m 36 and my skin is as bright and bouncy as in my twenties with this vit C and retinol combo. I also use the Buffet+copper in the morning routine with the sunscreen daily.

This is literally THE GREATEST product I've ever found. I dilute mine with the Natural Moisturizing Factor. M skin has never been this bright and beautiful. I will be a customer for life. Thank you so much!!

I have read mixed reviews on this. Several said they were bothered by the gritty residue left on skin. I do agree there is a residue but am not bothered by it at all. I don't always wear makeup & when I do, I don't wear much, so that may be part of the reason I am not bothered by this. My skin feels hydrated & bright when I use this. And this may sound odd but it actually tastes good to me too (and no, I do not purposely ever try to get it near/in my mouth). This is actually one of my top two favorite products of everything I use. The other is a particular hyaluronic acid I buy elsewhere. Wish I could use The Ordinary's but like many of their products it uses phenoxyethanol. It's harmless but I seem to be allergic to it. Just grateful it is not in all of their products so there are still many I can use. I love this Vitamin C serum.

this works, but you have to get past the grit in it. the silicone one is the smooth one that feels .....better....applying. they both work well and i always forget which one is which so i'm writing the review to make sure i know for next time.

I absolutely love this Vitamin C. I have tried sO many over the years but this is the only one that gives me that glow. I first tried it in 2019 but the texture was off putting and didn't work with my make up. So, I tried others. Many others but I never got the same results. Since skin care is all about results, I will never use anything else. I just had to modify when I used it. For me PM is perfect! It's not for everyone but for those that it is.... we are obsessed.

This has greatly improved my skin and enhanced the results from recent microneedling. The texture and strength did require some adjusting, but it’s well worth it. Ordering again right now.

Bought this a few days ago and I’m not sure if the texture is supposed to be so gritty or why it left my face smelling like tan after the first use ! Felt like it oxidised with something on my face but I’m no scientist so have no idea how to fix that one haha! Skin did feel soft and my skin is normally sensitive but this didn’t tingle or burn too bad. Please wash your hands after using it or you will have a lovely biscuity smell for days!

Is it the nicest thing to put on no but odds it work? Absolutely Has made a huge difference to the texture of ky skin and it’s much much more gooey

I've used this for a month now and mix it with another serum to reduce the sting. It is gritty but I don't mind that. The results are so obvious that I'm constantly being asked if I'm wearing foundation (I never wear make up) or if I'm bleaching my face. I love the results and now just need confirmation that the product does not contain bleach. Please advise

I enjoyed this Vit C, but I think it was moreso of a placebo effect since it had a high concentration combined with HA that I thought was working for me, even though I didn't like the greasiness.. One thing that was always in the back of my mind is how greasy it was

I love the product! But there was not much in the tube. I had the feeling that the tube was only half full in the beginning. This is my first Vitamin C serum ever, and I keep repurchasing! ♥️My skin was never problematic, but the previous skincare I was using left fleaks on my cheeks, so I tried this. It worked pretty well! At first, I had some difficulties with the texture, but turned out that I just needed to find a way to apply it. I am using Vitamin C serum in combination with The Ordinary Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3%, and my skin is glowing:) Fleaks are gone, skin is so smooth! I am using this combo before sleep, and I don't even need a moisturizer after. Thank you so much for creating this. It's so good!

I'm in the minority here, I did not love the solution this came in and found it to have a weird smell after a while. The texture is grainy. I think it works amazing but I will look for a more serum type solution next time.

I like this product! For my skin, I might have to take a day off. I do not use it more than once a day. Nice absorption, does not burn in the eyes. Voodoo magic in a bottle. I have used this exactly one time overnight and my skin is clear and free of redness on my cheeks. My pores are clear and the acne I do have has shrunk significantly over night. It truly is amazing how quickly this product brightened my skin. Not a perfect 10/10 because I used over a water based moisturizer and it did pill... but I see no issues putting it on before, next time. Highly recommend!

Several weeks of use has made my skin feel tighter, reduced redness on my cheeks and lessened acne around my nose. Amazing product.

I want to really like this product but I have been having trouble with placement in my skincare routine. I don't really mind the 'gritty' texture, it is really barely noticeable. I also can tolerate a high concentration. I like to use LAA as the first thing on my face after cleansing in the morning. I wanted to used this product because you get the most potency without sacrificing effectiveness to oxidation. But since it is an anhydrous solution with squalene as its largest component after LAA, I can't seem to find the right place for it. If I use it before my hydrating and moisturizing products, I feel like they don't absorb as well. If I use it after, I feel like the LAA is less effective. I have read about pH and the effectiveness of LAA but I think that only applies to hydrous solutions. Not really sure if using this suspension is affected by the pH of the other products I am using, Especially since I normally save heavy oil type things like squalene for the last step of my skin care before sunscreen. DECIEM Response: We'd recommend applying VC Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% as the final step of your PM routine, ideally. A suspension itself doesn't "penetrate" in full. it exposes the top layer of the skin to the extremely fine powder of Ascorbic Acid which results in uptake of it as the skin contains water.

Very good product. Hydrating factor and orginal PROVEN vitamin c formula that works for an affordable price. It does seem like there is not as much product inside the tube compared to the silicon alternative. Can I use glycerin after applying this product or do i need to wait for for it to fully absorb?

Yes, it feels a little bit gritty but the results on my skin are absolutely awesome. After three weeks of use my pimples disappeared and my skintone is much fresher and cleaner. I started to use this brand few days ago, don't noticed a big different yet, but here's my routine AM Niacinamide 10% Zinc 1%, follow up with my own daycream PM Niacinamide 10% Zinc 1%, wait 5 min, then Vitamin C suspension 23% Ha spheres 2% follow with my night cream. But I notice when i put on the vitamin C, a shedding was created on my face. my skin concern is some blemish, acne scar, uneven texture. Wondering if this is the right products to use?!

I love this product. I’ve been using weekly for 6 weeks and I’m sure my skin is softer.

I've been using this for 2 months consistently. I have noticed a reduction/fade on my acne scars. I rated a 3 due to packaging and product consistency. It's grainy on the skin. As it dries, it leaves a white sandy grain residue on my face. I will be swapping to serum these next months and hope it works the same. During travel, the top snapped open (not the cap). Product spilled all inside my travel pouch.

Not sure why the vitamin c suspension serum felt grainy and sandy to the face. Made my face look reddish as if sun burned. Didn’t feel like it was absorbed into my skin, just felt very chalky

So yes it’s prickly/stings/itches BUT after one use you automatically see results the next day. I’ve used this for years and I’ve tried so many brands but I always come back because this one still beats them all.

my skin is flaking, is it normal? I've been using it for two days

this product works pretty well! I use it only night, 4 times a week and i apply my moisturiser after the vitamin c. The powder texture doesn't bother me at all. It really brightens the skin. First time tingles but its fine.

I bought this months ago and love the new texture. It goes on smooth. Sometimes there's light stinging but that goes away after a few minutes if I feel it at all. I like that it brightens my skin and smooths the texture. My fine lines aren't noticeable when I apply this. Do a patch test first and see if it works for you. I mix it in with a cerave face lotion after toner, which works perfectly for me. My skin is perfectly hydrated. Don't forget sunscreen on top when you go outside if you apply in the AM.

Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% contains a high concentration of Vitamin C. It’s okay when I have been combining it with The Ordinary Glycolic acid on face and underarms every night, despite the gritty feeling of the Vit C. But one day, I used a depilatory cream for sensitive skin (that I have no issue before) to remove hair on my underarms, and it inflamed my underarm so bad, which caused redness, scratch-like marks, and burning pain, especially on my underarm creases. Too overexfoliation of combined products I guess in addition to my fragile armpit, especially since the concentration is 23% which is very high concentration of Vit C. I researched that starting with a low concentration of Vit C 5-10% should be introduced first. I did not use the Vit C suspension + Glycolic acid for 2 days on my underarms and have been applying ice packs & small amount of vaseline aloe vera lotion which helped relieved my inflamed underarms. So what you can take away with this review is you really have to be careful with using high concentrations of Vit C especially if you generally have sensitive skin or applying it in sensitive/fragile/damaged parts of your skin as Vit C 23% suspension with 2% HA spheres or any high concentrations of Vit C with HA can be potentially harsh and irritating especially when used improperly or due to lack of knowledge about its potential side effects. Always do thorough research when buying, applying and combining products (Your skin type, the ingredients of the products, the concentration amounts, how often to apply the products, and what cannot be combined with these products)

I love it! I use it in the morning as it is incompatible with retinol which I use at night. I put in on after I tone, and before moisturizer. It is definitely gritty to begin with, so needs to be applied gently to the skin or it will feel like a very intense face scrub (Think St Ives Apricot Scrub - ouch!). However this goes away after about 30 seconds as it is absorbed. I cannot say I find it overly greasy or that there is a strong odour or produces an orange stain. I only use a small amount so maybe that helps? A little goes a long way. I do agree that the packaging could be better as it is quite runny and will immediately run out of the bottle when you open it. I hold the bottle upside down, open the cap and slowly tilt the bottle until some product comes out in order to prevent spillage. My skin loves it though, and I can honestly say I've seen a massive difference in the brightness and evenness of my skin tone in the 5 months I have been using it. Highly recommend!
