I have a combination and acne-prone skin. At the time I bought this product I did not know I should start using retinol in low dosages but it doesn’t cause me any problems or irritation. The thing that I don’t like about this product is it looks oily and at the very beginning of using it may give you the feeling that it would cause breakouts.

I purchased this at the same time as the 0.2% retinol in Squalane and have been slowly integrating dropperfuls of the 1%. Did two weeks of the 0.2 before beginning this mixing process. I'm guesstimating I'm at about 0.6% after close to two months nightly use. My skin has never been clearer! My pores are usually quite dilated in my t-zone from mild acne since my teens (I'm 29) but I swear they've noticeably shrunken. I have yet to see any anti-aging effects but am hopeful. A number of people complain about the Squalane being non-absorptive, but I've made lymphatic facial massage part of my nightly routine now and it's an excellent oil base for this! It does eventually absorb. I noticed if I'm not as diligent as I should be about sun protection my face has gotten a bit dry/patchy and red (décolletage esp) but I just take a break for one night and put literal lubri on and it's disappeared within a couple days. The Ordinary Retinol 1% is so far THE BEST skin product I have ever used. The difference to my skin was immediate! After only one use my skin felt smooth & plump, like I just had an expensive facial. The product is little oily so needs to be patted or massaged into the skin but other than that it's perfect. The biggest plus is its cost — a fraction of Retin-A cream but equally effective. I’m 59 and have used Retin A for most of my adult life for acne. Over the past several years I started using 1% retinol because as I’ve aged retin A became more irritating to my skin. This product is gifted by theordinary. This is the first time for me using retinol. When I used in two consecutive days, my skin appeared to have mild redness and irritation. So I decided to use it 2, 3 days per week, not everyday, in order to help my skin gain intolerance. Redness is reduced over time and so is my fine lines on my forehead. However, my pores and other acne scares are still there.

This is the highest percentage I've ever used and my skin tolerates it well with very little dryness afterwards. The squalene helps to provide moisture to combat the drying effects of retinol. Love that it's in UV safe packing to prolong the effectiveness of the product.

This is a great product to use to start a retinol routine. It only has 1% which is not very high. I started using it every other day and gradually increased to every day. This is an amazing product, doing exactly what is is supposed to do, leaving your skin smooth, w/o small lines or wrinkles! For me there was no problem when first used, so I include it in my routine immediately. @DECIEM I think there is some confusion regarding keeping it refiregerated or not after you open it. Is it mandatory to keep it in the fridge? If so, should you use it ice cold or wait until it reaches RT? Thank you
